Abstract
This study explores the role of social media in Hajj and Umrah management, by analyzing data obtained from pilgrims through surveys and interviews. The results show that WhatsApp is the most widely used platform (85%), followed by Facebook (70%), Instagram (55%), Twitter (40%), and Youtube (35%). Social media proved to be effective in communication and coordination between pilgrims and organizers, allowing for quick and real-time information dissemination. This finding is in line with mass communication and innovation diffusion theories, which emphasize the importance of speed and reach in information dissemination. However, challenges such as limited internet access and data security issues need to be addressed. This research suggests improving internet infrastructure, developing privacy policies, and educating pilgrims on the use of social media. The COVID-19 pandemic also emphasizes the importance of social media in the adaptation of Hajj and Umrah management during crisis situations. The findings make a significant contribution to the literature and offer practical insights for the improvement of Hajj and Umrah management in the future.
