Abstract
Setiap muslim wajib memahami agamanya dengan baik dan memiliki worldview yang benar. Diantara upaya memahami agama adalah mengkaji dan memahami al-Qur’an. Tatkala mengkaji al-Qur’an akan ditemui banyak term yang tentunya penting dipahami dengan tepat karena berimplikasi pada sikap seorang muslim dalam kehidupan. Diantara konsep yang menarik untuk dikaji dalam al-Qur’an yang berkenaan dengan pemikiran pendidikan ialah term jâhil atau jahl dengan berbagai derivasinya. Kata ini secara sederhana jahl bermakna “bodoh”. Sedangkan Islam berupaya melahirkan pribadi-pribadi terdidik. Oleh karena itu tulisan ini berupaya mendudukan term jâhil atau jahl ini dengan sejelas-jelasnya.
